I sat back in my chair and stared at the screen in amazement. From what it looked like, Mandragora had hacked into the bbs software (I had thought he was a sysop origionally), messed around with someone's account, rehacked his own account when it was booted, then uploaded a virus to destroy the guy's modem. At first I thought it was Mala who came to pick me up from my cell, but then I noticed that she was ever so slightly taller. She had a brooding look that Mala lacked, her green eyes made larger by contact lenses to correct her sight. Her eyes held an intensity that Mala lacked, staring at me with a chilling effect that made me feel like a butterfly about to be pinned. With a shock, I recognised her as S-9, the Spectran agent who had captured Keyop and myself, deducing our identities as G-Force members. She was Zarabeth, Zoltar's other sister. / °_¥ý§Ú·Q¡A¥¦¬O¨Ó±q§Úªº²ÓM±µ¸ü§Úªº Mala ¡A¦ý¬OµM«á§Úª`·N¤F¦o¬O´¿¸g¦p¦¹ªº¨Ç·L¤ñ¸û°ª¡C ¦o¦³¤F Mala ¯Ê¥Fªº¨I«ä¯«±¡,¦oªººñ¦â²´·úÂǵ۳sµ¸³zÃèÅܱo¤ñ¸û¤j§ï¥¿¦oªºµø¤O¡C ¦oªº²´·ú®³µÛ¤@ºØ±j¯P³Q¯Ê¥F,¥H¨ì³B¨Ï§Ú·Pı¹³¤@°¦½¹½º·í¥Î°w§O¦íªºµL±¡®ÄªG¨nµÛ§Ú¬Ýªº Mala¡C ÂǥѤ@ÓÅåÀ~¡A§Ú¿ë»{¥X¤F¦o¦p S-9 ¡A¤w¸g®·Àò Keyop ªº Spectran ¥N²z¤H©M§Ú¦Û¤v,±À½×§ÚÌªº¨¥÷¦p G- ¤O¶qªº¦¨û¡C ¦o¬O Zarabeth ¡A Zoltar's ªº¨ä¥L©n©f¡C

Like the other LaTrosses, she was tall, and she made herself taller with heeled boots and long clothes. She wore long slacks and a waist-length cape. Her hat was a half-height top hat, from which her long hair spilled. It fell past her knees in a shimmering sheet. I'm jealous -- I always wanted hair like that. She went gloveless, and the sleeve ends of her tunic were diamond shaped, fastening to a ring that went over her middle finger, covering wrist and palm. She was very stately, with that controlled elegance shared by all of the LaTrosse siblings. Whereas Mala reminded me of a bird of prey, and Zoltar of a snake, Zarabeth reminded me strongly of a cougar -- lithe, strong, beautiful, and deadly. She didn't explain further. I was left wondering what could be so dangerous about a lump of soil? I shrugged and put the soil in my carry bag, to keep as a souvenir, then looked around at the surrounding mountains. They looked as though they had been melted, for great ribbons of stone writhed down the sides, some looking like they were made of glass. Obsidian? The place had atmosphere: Hurt, dark.. It took close to an hour to reach on foot. There was no vehicle track, no road, no means of reaching the site by wheels. Zarabeth pointed to the trees, one by one, telling me their names and their properties. The wood cut down to clear the space for the house would not be wasted: Some was being used in the construction of the cottage, some would be used to fuel the new stove and fireplace. There were many herbs growing wild in the wood: Some had medicinal properties (Spectra's medical system made use of everything from accupuncture to herbs to synthesized drugs -- if it healed, it was used), others were flavoursome, still others edible as vegetables, yet more useful for the preparation and preservation of cloth. Another greenhouse would be constructed, and another garden. A windmill was situated in the wind tunnel produced by a valley a mile over; it turned the generators, which produced so much power it supplied nearly all of the needs of the construction devices. It would be more than enough to supply the house. / Zarabeth «ü¦V¾ð, ¤@¤@ÂI¤§«e,§i¶D§Ú¥LÌªº¦W¦r©M¥LÌªº°]²£¡C ¦]¬°©Ð¤l±N¤£³Q®ö¶O¡A¤ì§÷´î§C²M°£ªÅ¶¡: ¤@¨Ç¬O³Q¥Î©ó¤p«Îªº«Ø¿v,¤@¨Ç±N·|¥Î¨Ó±À°Ê·sªº¤õÄl©M¾ÀÄl¡C ¦³¦b¤ì§÷¼W¥[³¥©Êªº³\¦hÃįó: ¤@¨Ç¦³Âå¾Çªº°]²£ ( §Q¥Î¨C¥ó¨Æª«ªºÀWÃÐÂå¾Çªº¨t²Î±q¨ìÃÄ¯óªº accupuncture ¨ìºî¦XÃÄ -- ¦pªG¥¦ªv¡,¥¦³Q¨Ï¥Î),¨ä¥¦¬O flavoursome, µM¦Ó¨ä¥¦¹«~¦p½µæ,¤´µM¹ï©ó·Ç³Æ©M¥¬®Æªº«O¦s¬O§ó¦³¥Îªº¡C ¥t¤@Ó·Å«Ç±N·|³Qºc³y, ©M¥t¤@Óªá¶é¡C ¤@®y·¨®¦ì©óµ²§ô³Q¤s¨¦¤@ù¥Í²£ªº·¬}; ¥¦Âà¤Fµo¹q¾÷,¥Í²£¤F¥¦´X¥G¨ÑÀ³«Ø¿v¸Ë¸mªº©Ò¦³»Ýnªº³o»ò¦h¹q·½¡C ¥¦±N·|¤£¥u¬O¥R¨¬¨ÑÀ³©Ð¤l¡C

We sat outside the complex, watching the first streaks of dawn painting the clouds, huddled together in the early morning chill. We had talked all night, me, Mala, Zoltar and the old woman, Mother Aranya.
